Acu in Practice: Sonny, Chronic Loose Stools

Welcome to Acu in Practice! Here’s Sonny, an older gelding pony who has chronically loose stool ranging from watery to unformed. During his exam and case work-up, he was diagnosed with Liver Qi Stagnation leading to Liver – Spleen Dysharmony. Among other symptoms and signs, he was reactive to BL 18 when scanning for sensitivities. In the photo, the veterinarian is treating the acupuncture point Liver 3 to move the Liver Stagnation and help bring the patient’s digestion back into balance.

Other useful acupuncture points for this pattern:

LIV 13, SP 3, SP 4, SP 6, ST 36, GV 1
